Here's what we were working with on this Scottsdale job - a large built-in gas grill that had seen a lot of use and not much cleaning. Heavy carbon buildup on the grates, grease-packed heat shields, and a firebox coated in layers of baked-on residue. Pretty typical for a grill that gets regular use but hasn't had a proper deep clean.

The heat shields are where most people don't look - and where most of the real buildup hides. When those get completely caked in carbon and grease, the burners underneath can't distribute heat properly. That means hot spots, uneven cooking, and food that doesn't come off the grill the way it should. Getting those cleaned down to bare metal is a big part of what makes a full barbecue deep clean worth it.

We went through the whole grill top to bottom - grates, heat shields, firebox walls, the lid interior, all of it. What you end up with isn't just a cleaner-looking grill. It heats more evenly, runs more efficiently, and you're not burning off old grease every time you fire it up. For a high-end built-in unit like this, keeping it clean also protects the investment.

A lot of people think a quick brush before cooking is enough. It's not - especially not for a grill that gets regular use. That surface-level scrub doesn't touch the grease dripped into the firebox or the carbon fused onto the heat shields. A proper deep clean gets all of that, and the difference in how the grill performs afterward is noticeable.
